In addition to our regular classes and practice times, Sharks Ice offers private Skating & Hockey Lessons from a variety of experienced, well-qualified instructors.

To set up a private lesson, please choose from our list of coaches below, or contact our Skating Director, Candy Goodson, who can help you select a private coach. Candy Goodson can be contacted at cgoodson@sharksice.com.

Sharks Ice Private Instructors set their own lesson times in accordance with ice availability. Rates and availability vary per instructor. Lessons are typically taught in 15, 20, 30, 45, or 60 minute increments. Public Session admission is required in additional to private instruction. Private coaches can also provide Public Session groups with skating lessons.

Susan has been coaching for 19 years and is currently the Skating Coordinator at Sharks Ice at Fremont. She is a 4-time US National Showcase competitor as well as a USFS Gold Medalist in Skating Skills. After retiring from competition, she went on to skate professionally with Woodstock Ice Productions and All Wheel Sports. She has 8 years of experience skating professionally in various shows, specializing in character skating. Susan specializes in power skating, skating skills, and choreographic expression.

Ryan has 23 years of coaching experience.  He is a 3-time US National Competitor, USFS Gold Medalist in Freestyle, Skating Skills, and Pairs. After retiring from competition, he went on to skate professionally with Holiday on Ice and Willie Bietak Productions.  Ryan has been teaching full time since 2010 helping to develop several National champions, and International Medalists alongside National, International, and Olympic coach Tammy Gambill.  Ryan is currently on staff at Sharks Ice. He specializes in advanced jump technique, power skating and pole harness training.

David is a National, World, and Olympic level coach with 27 years of teaching experience. He has taught numerous National level competitors. In 2014, he attended the Olympic Games in Sochi alongside long-time student Polina Edmunds. In addition, Polina became a World Team member in 2014, 2015, and 2016. David also believes in and teaches a strong foundation for all his students and strives to foster a positive training environment for all skaters. David specializes in advanced jump technique, skating skills, and program endurance.

Alice has 20 years of coaching experience. She is a 3-time USFS Gold Medalist in Freestyle, Skating Skills, and Ice Dance. Alice also completed all her International Dance tests as well. Alice went on to compete at the collegiate level while attending UC Berkley and attaining a degree in communications. Alice has worked with skaters of all levels; creating a strong skating foundation with an emphasis on advanced skating skills. Alice specializes in ice dance and skating skills.

Sherri has been coaching for 35 years and is currently on staff at Sharks Ice. She has been on faculty at US Figure Skating for various High-Performance Camps and programs since 2016. Sherri has coached National Champions as well as International, World and Olympic competitors for Team USA. She has had skaters at Nationals every year since 2009. Specializing in MIF, advanced spins and overall technical elements for programs. She also does choreography for Artistic and Free Skate Programs. Sherri believes in and teaches a strong foundation for all her students

Sean is the newest member of the Sharks Ice staff. Sean joins us from Canada where he competed in pairs and singles skating. Sean, alongside his partner Elizabeth Putnam, are the 2006 Four Continents bronze medalists and 2-time Canadian national bronze medalists. Sean went on to skate professionally in various shows including Feld Entertainment’s Disney on Ice. Sean was also the skating director for Glacier Skate Academy in Whitefish, Montana
